CrossFit

“Broad, general and inclusive”, that’s the word from the top at CrossFit. Varied trainings, scalable by loads and intensity, and developed by and for athletes make this the correct path for anyone willing to drop out of the non-directional work out routine so familiar to the garden level gyms we all perceive as the citadels of health.
In the CrossFit vernacular your body was “designed to do an incredible amount of work.” We simply have to train to be able to do that work with ease and safety. This is the optimum place to begin training at Gym Riki. It’s non-combative, non-competitive and the best place to grow the 10 key skills:

  • Cardio respiratory endurance
  • Stamina
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Power
  • Speed
  • Coordination
  • Accuracy
  • Agility
  • Balance

The CrossFit program is built on “constantly varied, high intensity functional movements”. Functional movements are “universal motor recruitment patterns”. More simply can we move our bodies and objects efficiently? Can we move what we call large loads over long distances very quickly? CrossFit training is preparation for the “unknown contingencies we may face in life”. After much practice and experience it is clear that the preparation for “random physical challenges -i.e. unknown and unknowable events is at odds with fixed, predictable and routine exercise regimens”.
